A great article on Kensington and it's roots but the best part is definitely when it mentions KIC Thrift Boutique! Along with a "shout out" you can find a picture of yours truly, (Me), casually posing in front of the shop. Yes, I said..."casually posing" ;).

KIC a.k.a Keepin' It Chic
KIC [kik] Thrift Boutique is an independent boutique located in Kensington, MD. We sell gently used second hand clothing, accessories, jewelry and shoes for men, women, and children. We sell everything from vintage cigarette holders to exclusive Nike SB Dunks, a wide array of products that will always keep our customers interested.
Lamara, owner of KIC, has the aspiration that her boutique will become the new haven for all fashion enthusiasts within the DMV area.
We are now CLOSED on Mondays
As of May 1st, 2010, Keepin' It Chic will be CLOSED on Mondays until further notice.

Do I have to make an Appointment?
Yes, all consignments are accepted by appointment only, Tuesday-Friday 11:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
What kind of Clothing are you Accepting?
We are interested in mens, womens, and childrens contemporary casual clothing and accessories such as shoes, handbags, belts, jewelry and hats.
Items should be in good condition (i.e. no stains or holes) and no more than three years old. All items must be in season! After March 1st, we will only accept Spring/Summer and beginning September 1st, we will accept Fall/Winter.
We are always interested in selling vintage clothes and accessories ranging from the late 1960's through the late 1980's.
We do NOT accept the following:
-Undergarments
-Formal wear
-Household items
-Bathing Suits
-Electronics
-Men/Women Suits
Ready for my Appointment, What else do I need to know?
Items are not required to be dry cleaned or ironed but should be clean and free of holes and stains!
You must bring a minimum of 10 items and a max. of 25 items at a time. Multiple appointments can be made in case you have 3,409 items (j/k) to place on consignment.
Each appointment is set for 20 minutes, depending on the items brought in it may take no more than 30 minutes. You have the choice of waiting until the inspection of items is complete or return before the close of business day.
When do I receive payment?
Your items will be placed on consignment and you will be issued an account number for your new consignment account. Unlike other consignments stores, we do not charge a fee for your consignment account.
Once your item sales, you will receive 50% of the retail price. Checks are issued the second week of each month. The consignment contract is only valid for 60 days.
